Requirements

Software

Drumology online lessons are conducted using Zoom as the method of communication

Electronic Devices

You will need one device for communication & one device for playing your music & metronome.

o   COMMUNICATION DEVICE – It is recommended that a Laptop or P.C. is used as the communication device because the audio settings in the Zoom software will provide the best sound.

o   MUSIC & METRONOME – it is recommended that a Tablet is used to play your music & metronome.

o   AMPLIFICATION - because the sound of your drums (electronic or acoustic) will be transmitted to the Teacher through the microphone on your communication device, the audio from the device you use for your music will need to be played through an Amplifier so the Teacher can hear you playing along to the audio.

Positioning

Your communication device must be positioned so that the teacher can clearly see you, your hands & your drum kit. The best position is to the left & approximately 20 degrees forward from you seat position & raised approximately 4-5 feet from the floor. You will probably have to experiment a bit to find the best position & some form of “Holder” or music stand for your device is useful.

Audio

You will need to have all the music that you are learning, songs, grade pieces etc. available on your tablet device. It is preferable to play your music using the ANYTUNE app which allows you to slow down the audio for easier learning. You should also have an electronic METRONOME on your device. The recommended metronome software is TEMPO.

Sound Check

Before we start our first online lesson, the teacher will call you on Zoom & conduct a sound check & explain to you how to get the best sound out of your equipment so that the teacher can clearly hear your music, metronome & playing.

Battery

Because Zoom will draw extra power from your device’s battery, it is very important to Make sure your device is fully charged for the lesson.
