About Drumology
DRUMOLOGY is a professional Drum Kit teaching service based in Hertfordshire, providing one-to-one Studio or Online lessons for drummers of all ages & experience. We offer a comprehensive course for learning drum set technique, building from basic hand & foot development, postural techniques, sight reading & rudiment application studies to advanced Drum Kit techniques & the study of the various musical genres.
DRUMOLOGY provides a free assessment to establish the most beneficial start point for the student. From there we provide course material in the form of coaching instructions, exercise charts & drum music scores which are to be used at home for practice between each lesson.
DRUMOLOGY follows the ROCKSCHOOL grade exam programme & uses the ROCKSCHOOL grade books.
About Nick
Nick Baker is Drumology’s principal drum set teacher.
Bringing over 40 years of live playing & teaching experience, Nick has played in bands of varying styles including Rock, Pop, Blues, Soul, Latin & Jazz. His playing experience covers live performance, tribute bands, recording, radio, theatre, touring.
Nick has many private students throughout North London & Hertfordshire & was the resident drum teacher at the Music Stop in North London & Stableyard Music at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire.
Nick has studied with proven teachers, John Taylor (Footes), Rob Stevens (W.D.C.), the acclaimed Australian drummer & author Darryn Farrugia, leading U.K. session drummer Ralph Salmins & more recently Pete Riley one of the UK’s leading educators & contributor to Rhythm Magazine.
As well as Rockschool Drum Grades, Nick has studied at Drumtech (now the BIMM Institute) achieving a Diploma in Drum Performance.
His teaching style brings out the best quality in every student. Whilst providing a structure and discipline to each lesson, he still makes it fun & encourages students to be creative and to develop their improvisation skills, stylistic playing, technique & reading ability.
Nick is fully qualified and fully DBS checked
