STUDIO SAFETY POLICY DURING COVID-19

In line with Government Guidelines & Musicians Union advice, I am able to open the Drum Teaching Studio for 1:1 lessons & Recording providing the following guidelines are adhered to by every person visiting the studio for Drum lessons.

Please read the following protocols carefully to ensure the remote risk of cross-infection is minimised.

UPON ARRIVAL

  • Please remain in your vehicle outside the studio until I indicate that it is clear to enter.

  • I will open all the doors so that the student does not have to touch any door handles when entering or exiting.

  • The Waiting Area will be closed so parents should either come into the Teaching Room, sit at the table outside (weather permitting) or remain in their vehicle for the duration of the student’s lesson.

  • Please arrive on time but allow a few minutes between lessons to enable me to disinfect surfaces & any equipment that may have been handled by the previous student.

UPON ENTRY

  • Upon entry there will be sanitising gel & hand wipes & a disposal bin for the use of those who are entering the Teaching Room.

  • All students & parents who are entering the Teaching Room are requested to use the sanitising gel & hand wipes before entry.

  • Please do not enter the Teaching Room until I indicate it is safe to do so.

  • Every attempt should be made to keep a 1 metre distance apart.

  • Wherever possible please avoid touching surfaces, door handles & drum equipment,

I will open & close all doors & do all the adjustment of the drums as required as part

    of the set-up preparation.

  • The Ear Protection Devices that belong to the Teaching Studio will be disinfected between use.

DURING THE LESSON

  • There are occasions when the student will have to touch parts of the Drum Set, obviously the drum seat will be used & cymbal chokes & cross stick will require physical contact with the instrument.

  • It is ok to touch these items & they will be disinfected between lessons.

  • There will be a Perspex Screen provided between the Student Kit & the Teachers Kit

    for added protection.

  • Of course, you may wear a face mask if you wish. However, it is my opinion that face masks are unhealthy so I will not be wearing a face mask.

  • Where possible the Student must should bring their own music, exercise books, headphones, drum sticks, brushes, mallets & ear protection as required.

END OF LESSON

  • I still prefer taking cash payment for Studio Lessons & I will provide a box in which you can place payment before leaving.

  • Please remain seated & I will open all the doors for your exit to avoid you having to come into contact with the door handles.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

PLEASE CANCEL YOUR LESSON IF YOU HAVE ANY SIGNS OF ILLNESS OF ANY TYPE. CONSIDERING MY AGE, I CANNOT AFFORD EITHER PHYSICALLY OR FINANCIALLY TO CLOSE DOWN TEACHING THROUGH ILLNESS. I WILL NOT CHARGE FOR LESSONS CANCELLED THROUGH ILLNESS.
